Ya'll.
I need help. Serious help.
I'm downstairs by myself at 9:30pm.
I'm being attacked.
(No, don't call 911)
I'm being attacked by that she-beast that lives inside me and calls out for a sugary-chocolaty snack on a regular basis.
We'll call her NCC (Nightly Craves Chocolate)
She's nocturnal.
Well, okay, once a month she comes out during the daylight hours. But everyone around here knows to run for the hills if NCC shows her face during the day.
Nonetheless, she's here. Right now. And she's hungry.
And there is NOTHING in this house. Just kiddy food.
I'm desperate!!!!
What do you think?
I think that some mini marshmallows, and chocolate chips in the microwave for 15 seconds make a killer s'more when you add in some teddy grahams.
Go teddy, go teddy, it's your birthday. Uh huh.
NCC has settled down for the night.
Do you have any creative ideas for your NCC?
Love it!!
ReplyDeleteMelt chocolate chips in the microwave.
Get bag of pretzels out of pantry.
Do not pour pretzels in a bowl.
Sit on the couch with bowl of melted chocolate and bag of pretzels.
And dip away! Yum Yum.
Great to do when children are asleep and hubby is working.
Umm.. sometimes when no one is looking I do Peanut butter and choc chips melted on a tortilla. :)
ReplyDeleteOk, seriously that's hilarious...and looks super yummy! I always keep a bag of that Betty Crocker chocolate chip muffin mix on hand for times like that. Just whip up a batch and grab some Bryers vanilla ice cream. Soooo good!

Rofl..........yeah I have done that same thing. I live out in the boonies too so there is no going to Safeway at midnight. Sighhhhhh cherry
ReplyDeleteDoes plain ole' vanilla ice cream sprinkled with chocolate chips count? Cause that's what I had tonight:) Not creative but you gotta do what you gotta do! How about Nutella and pretzel sticks?! YUM!
ReplyDeleteYour idea is brilliant! I usually make oatmeal no-bake cookies during that time. They are my absolute favorite.
ReplyDeleteBrandee :-)
You crack me up.....those poor bears! Actually that is really creative and I dont have any of that to eat and my NCC is avoiding grapes and sleep. :( How lame.
ReplyDeleteI'll be right over, girl, I like your style! ;)
ReplyDeleteErin
Great idea! lol
ReplyDeleteI use chocolate chips and dip them in peanut butter when I get desperate. Dark chocolate is my fave. :) I've also been known to just eat them straight from the bag without any additions. Desperate times call for desperate measures, you know. ha!
See, don't worry. You're not alone in the NCCs. Mine lately has been taco dip. I know it sounds time consuming, but we've mastered it that even all my kids "whip" up a dip when they are hungry. With the fresh tomatoes..we do cottage cheese (since I used to use sour cream/cream cheese and have packed on the lbs), HG taco soup seasoning, cheese, tomatoes, peppers (since trying to make it healthy), black beans, mix and tortilla chips..yum!!! We've been making it almost every day. "We're all in this together..." singing very much like I am 16 and in High School musical.:)
ReplyDeleteAll these food comments are making me hungry!
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas everyone!
I like to keep M&M's and pretzels handy...just a handful of this mix and I am good!
I call the M&M's my vitamins...so I better go take some now!
Have a great day!
Vern
PS - Enjoyed your blog!
Congratulations on your award!
Hi there! I've been reading (and enjoying) your blog for quite some time, so I finally decided to leave a comment. My NCC for a long time was dipping my kid's teddy grahams in the peanut butter jar (it was reduced fat Jiff at least). I love that snack with a ice cold glass of milk. I guess we really don't ever outgrow our childhood, huh? Hope you are having a great day and look forward to your next post! JVS
ReplyDeleteOh, my word! I will have to show this to my dear, sweet hubby! He makes fun of me for doing this. Instead of teddy grahams I scoop it out with a graham crackers. And it is ohsoyummy! But I can't have it now because, well, all this junk food has started attacking my hips! But I will be keeping this in the back of my mind for next month when NCC shows up =P

I'll second the Nutella! Also, I've melted choc chips and peanut butter in between graham crackers in the microwave. Usually, mine is an afternoon pick me up, rather than a nighttime snack, though.
ReplyDeleteSpecial K with chocolate, Cocco Pebbles or... the chocolate calicum chews..... I know.... not too exciting... but it does not do too much damage either.
ReplyDeleteMMmmmmm!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo many yummy ideas!
Looks like I'll be buying pretzels, Nutella (never tried it before, but can't wait), extra peanut butter (low fat, no doubt) and more chocolate chips next grocery visit!
Ya'll are the best. I'm glad I don't stand alone in the world of cravings.
Desperate times call for desperate measures, and now I'm armed and ready!
C'mon girl, you KNOW your Momma always has some chocolate in the house & I sure wouldn't be in bed that early! I'll have to try your concoction as soon as I get some Bears. I always scooped some marshmallow cream into a little bowl & poured Hershey's syrup over it...
ReplyDeleteThis is so funny! I usually just go straight for the chocolate syrup is I can't find anything else. This is much more creative!
