A year and a half ago, I didn't even know what a blog was. I thought it was where cranberries like to be harvested. It is amazing what a big part of my life it has become in just a year's time. I have a whole new group of friends: my 'blog posse'. Some of these new friends are local, and our mutual love for blog-land has brought us together. I have met other bloggers, that I am sure IRL, we'd be best buds. For now we are just content to leave sweet comments of encouragement. One day, in glory, maybe we'll get to have coffee.
I also have some new blog-friends that don't have the faintest clue that I exist, kinda like the freshman admiring the senior. That list includes Lysa, the Nester, and Beth. They are amazing women that I truly admire. I am sure if I came within 30 feet of them, I would forget my name and my deodorant would immediately stop working. Of course, I know that they are each daughters of the king and we would totally hit it off (especially all of us being from the south).
But.
I just might get to meet a few of those fellow blog maidens. Lysa T. is offering a scholarship to the She Speaks Conference. This year they are having seminars for bloggers!!!
The few times I have had the opportunity to do either (speak or write publicly), I've been acutely aware of my lack of knowledge and training.
Oh to gather together with other women and sharpen my skills as a writer, speaker and blogger! So, I'm off to sign up to win that scholarship!
Anyone else going? We could be roomies...
Let's talk. Haven't looked at dates or anything, but might be fun.
ReplyDeleteOh - go, go, go...I'm going for sure.
ReplyDeleteYou know, the Nester left a comment once on my blog and you would've thought the Queen of England herself would've paid me a visit I was so excited! She knows I exist!! :) What a fun conference to attend...I wish! Good luck to you on winning the scholarship!
ReplyDeleteMakes me want to start my own blog just to qualify! Love yours!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so glad you added the Follower list to you site! I didn't get by as often as I would like because you weren't in my "Dashboard of Followers". I'm with you and only been doing this less than a year but it sure is fun and you can sure make a lot of nice friends (cyber or real life). I'm lucky enough to live in Houston where Beth Moore does, and go to her weekly bible studies here. She is JUST the sweetest, most down to earth person ever. Now SHE has a LOT of Commentors and followers on the blog doesn't she.
ReplyDeleteI also enjoyed looking at the rest of your blog...I like the birdseed in the glass...I'm gonna "steal" that idea.
Oh honey- you are too kind.
ReplyDeleteI am not one of your judges for the contest, but I had to pop over and encourage you to come to She Speaks no matter if you win the scholarship or not.
Who is to say I might not have a deodrant malfunction if I got to meet you!?!???!!!
Hi! I'm one of your new bloggy followers. I entered this contest today after a week of getting the nerve up to do it!
ReplyDeleteI copied your eggs in the jar idea by cutting off eggs that were on a garland. It turned out really cute! Thanks for the inspiration!
Your entry is so cute!!!
ReplyDeletePraying for your dream and wishing you luck in the contest!
