Join Me

Pull up a chair, grab a cup of joe and join me. I'm having an iced mocha with real whipped cream and an extra drizzle of chocolate. It's only 1000+ calories, but hey, it's cyber world. Calories don't count.

I thought we'd have a little girl-chat this morning. I wish you were here in your fuzzy pj's curled up on the couch. I've got some questions for you today. You may choose to answer them through the comment button; or you might just want to ponder them in your heart.

1. How are you doing? Really doing? Maybe you are facing a new chapter in your life. A child flying from the nest, moving on to college or maybe spreading her wings in kindergarten. Is a career change, relocation, or health battle on the horizon? Possibly you are just worn down. It has been a little too much of the same ol' same ol' for too long.
Sometimes we just live life, go through the motions, without taking the time to step back and examine the heart.

2. Are you content? Contentment is one of those things that can come and go as quickly as a summer storm. I can feel perfectly content until something beautiful floats into my line of vision. Suddenly I'm not so satisfied with what I have. It's hard to walk away, but it is a choice. Do I live for the "what ifs" or do I thank God for the bounty of blessings that surround me each day?

3. Are you enjoying life? There is a difference between being content and actually enjoying the gift of today. Sometimes this is verrrry hard to do. Are you choosing to find the joy? Look for it. Some days I have to look harder than others. It may be too painful to look at your whole day. Search for little moments that evoke pure joy. When was the last time you listened to the sound of a twittering bird sing her lungs out?

4. What can you polish that has become a little dull? Maybe it is your marriage; your mommy-words; your exercise program; your walk with the Lord. Take some time today and reflect on what needs a little work.

Ladies, don't let your marriage slip. Keep the fires burning. Select one thing that will show your hubby an extra measure of love. You know, better than anyone else in the world, what would make him shine. Just do it. It will be worth it.

Having trouble taming the tone of your voice? Listen to yourself speak to your children and then ask yourself, "would I speak to anyone else this way?"

How is your walk with the Lord? He has so much to give to you today, but you have to look in His word to find it. Seek that treasure... it is there for you!

Oh, I have MUCH to work on! I'm so glad that we've had this little chat. It has made me realize some things that I've just allowed to slip for a while. Time to sharpen up and live life to the fullest!
Have a day full of blessings!

You are either zoning in on my brain waves or you have your finger on the pulse of all women. Either way, I have been thinking through these questions for a few weeks and am glad to have some encouragement about them from your blog this morning!

Such an encouragement. Thanks! I really do need to think about a lot of these questions. The thing you said about contentment coming and going so quickly is very true for me. Hopefully I will think a little harder about these things today!

What a wonderful, thought-provoking post...thanks so much for the encouragement! I've got A LOT to work on; that's for sure! I know I've allowed discontentment to take hold in many areas of my life...SO NOT GOOD! Hope your day is also filled with blessings!

Thanks for the inspired questions.

I've just pulled out A Young Woman's Guide to Right Choices to start reading with my tween who's about to start middle school.

Doing my own Bible study on discipline (for the aforesaid tween & myself!)

Just signed up today for the 30-Day Husband Encouragement Challenge through Revive Our Hearts.

Lots of good changes going on here!

(BTW, I'm having a vanilla frappaccino with whole milk & whipped cream. Delish!)

First of all...I'm having my cafe con leche (IRL)...and it is yummy!

I've been thinking about some of these things lately...and I wanted to share with you a post from MckMama's blog that I found particularly appropriate (for me):

Beautiful food for thought. I think we do just roam through each day in a fog all too often. Time to stop and smell the roses and count our blessings. Thanks for the reminder. Hugs, Marty

Thank you for your post. You gave me a lot of things to think about! Sometimes it's easy to get lost in the day to day and not focus on the really important things.

These are great questions! I just love you girl! You are someone I wish I knew in 'real life' because I know we'd be BFF's!

The thing that has been on my heart lately is asking God to keep me far from complacency. Give me fire and passion for the roles you have called me to. Give me eyes to see what I need to see today and help me live within the boundaries of today.

Great word today sista!

I just came across your blog, but can't remember from where...but I'm so glad I did. Thank you for those words of wisdom and I think you must have been zoned into my brain there for a moment. I've been thinking along those same lines lately. I'm going to add you to my favorites so I can come back and visit often!

Hugz,
Michele

Boy did I ever need to read this! THANK you for following the obvious prompting of the Lord to post that. Some questions that I was in dire need of being asked, and WILL be pondering in my heart and with my Father in heaven.
