No Winter Blues

I know you might think I am crazy (I'm pretty sure you already do), but I LOVE winter.  There's just something wonderful about the coziness and togetherness that this season brings.  My blog posts have been a little scanty lately but we just finished our winter track-out and I enjoyed it to the fullest.  I have found with homeschooling, I need the break as much, if not more than the kids.  I like slipping back into "just the mom" role for a while.
I like being the teacher, but sometimes the teacher has to crack the book learnin' whip and keep the wheels a turnin.  That's a figure of speech, so please no emails about me using a real whip on my children.  Seriously.  Don't.

As I was saying, we've enjoyed our break doing lots of fun stuff and doing nothing at all.  Both bring me such happiness...
Sipping hot chocolate by the fire after some outdoor winter fun.

Playing Wii and other fun games with the family.  That's my fun-loving mom bustin' a move with the "Just Dance for Kids."  Notice the dog trying to take a nap right in the middle of the dance floor; my husband dancing in soccer flip flops; two bowls of chocolate for when we've just exercised too much; and the kid with the light saber trying to pull a fast one on his unsuspecting sister.

Remember my word for the year?   New running shoes have helped me be more purposeful in my exercise commitment.  For some reason the "holiday cheer" decided to camp out on my thighs.  Grrr....

We have had record amounts of snow so far for our region.  This makes for a lot of fun...
 and great photo moments.

So now that we are back to our "regular programming" my blog will not suffer as much.  I love, love, love vacation; but there is something to be said for a regular routine.  Some people call it a schedule, but that word scares me.

How about you?  Do you prefer a routine or a true schedule?

I enjoy winter also. It seems like it is a time for me to slow down and just relax some. There is no garden, no yard work, sports or at a minimum and I can just chill a little more often.

I also love routine.

Same here....I love the break, but also am usually ready to get back at it when the time comes & get back into our routine again. Going to start heading that direction about Wed. I think....oldest heads back to Liberty this weekend to start his final semester & my next oldest will be finishing up her final semester here as a homeschooler.....she'll be following her older brother's footsteps & heading to LU this fall. YIKES!!

Hummm....I don't really like routines or schedules! Which is difficult when homeschooling! I try....but schedules just don't work for me!

Girl, I'm so glad you love winter...I love watching your family enjoy it through your pics.

You know, I've in the past I had always been a fixed schedule girl, and thrived by it, but now as the kids are getting older and they are no longer on MY routine (but have schedules of their own based on schedules out of my control) I'm, learning to be flexible and enjoying it!

Hi, I came to visit from Sweet Shot Tuesday and enjoyed this post as well. I've just gotten hooked on my grandkids' Nintendo, along with great Wii games for the kids and us boomers and seniors - they love the sports games like tennis and bowling best, while I'm really hooked on the Mario Brother games. So it was quite fun to see your Wii activities for your family. Thanks for a lovely visit. :)

Schedule? What's that?

I am a routine girl, but I do love a little spontaneity, too. Ok...I love a lot of spontaneity. But I do like it when we're in our groove....

I think I'm a routine kinda person. Back in my previous life when I was a teacher, I much preferred teaching whatever subject I wanted when I wanted to. (This was 1st grade.)

Now with 2 toddlers a routine is good but a schedule would be the most stress-inducing thing in the universe. For realz.

I like the snow part of winter. But if it's just going to be insanely cold with nothing to show for it, then no, thanks.

I love routine/schedules, actually. I am a lot less scheduled than I used to be, but it is necessity in a lot of ways to get everything done.

I know what you mean about needing the break from teaching. It is how I feel A LOT. lol

As you know, spontaneous should have been my middle name. I guess I'd have to say that I like a little routine with a LOT of flexibility...!
You know I prefer summer/spring/fall over winter.. I get to feeling so "couped up" in the winter 'cause I'm a wimp when it comes to getting outside & doing something.
I LOVE that photo of the little man pretending he doesn't like his sisters' kisses! So cute of all 3 of them.
I NEED to get bustin' on some exercise, 'cause a cruise right after the (eating) holidays added up to disaster for my "figure"...
