Last week the world celebrated Earth Day. I made a point to post on facebook "Celebrating Earth Day by giving glory to the One who made it and
sustains it alone."
I
do believe we need to be good stewards of our earthly home. In fact, we've made a few changes at our house to be green:
I'm the poster child for carpooling ... we no longer drive to school. :)
I use reusable grocery bags when I remember.
I recycle. A lot.
In fact I thought I was pretty good at recycling until I ran across this little number this week:
What? Don't recognize them? C'mon. Every woman needs a set to be earth friendly.
If you don't have a pair of cloth feminine pads, you are putting our earth in serious jeopardy. Feeling guilty? Me neither. But it sure gave me a good laugh. Where they come from is even funnier.
The website is called Party in My Pants. In all my years of being a full fledged woman, I've never thought of my monthly visitor worthy of a party. Much less in my pants.
Seriously?!
So, here's my question for you. What have you done to be earth friendly? Would you consider a "party in your pants?"
Just for the record, my answer? Nevah.

um...no. No cloth pads for me!!
We recycle. And I try to get things out of my house via Good Will or Craig's List or some mean other than throwing stuff away.
It's not easy being green...
now that scares me. oh my word! yes. have to pass on that one. some things are just asking too much. :)
Hilarious! I have seen these before on etsy.
Oh, what will they think of next?
Are they kidding! This has to be something a man came up with! I do try to be green...we have had a solar power system, and a solar water heater installed, I carpool and plan my trips so when I do drive, shopping trips are included...but this...totally no way!
Oh Gretchen!!! I am willing to make many changes but this is just not one of them!! YIKES! ;)
All I can say is yuck! But the party in your pants - now that's a "cathcy" phrase. I may have to use that one.
SK
Ummmm No thank you.
:)
What will they think of next...
I use the recyclable bags when I remember them as well. I'm going to start keeping them in the storage compartment on the driver's side door to see if I can remember a little more frequently.
I also rarely bag loose produce that goes into my shopping carts. It saves me from throwing them away when I get home and it doesn't damage the produce to go straight into my shopping bag.
Sorry, couldn't do it.
I had a friend several years back that tried to convince me to save the planet by using reusable/washable "cups" instead of Tampax.
I'm all about being a good steward, and i recycle and compost, and eat off of real plates every ding-dong day...but I won't be using reusable feminine products any time soon!
Yuck!
And Yuck again!
Ok: I think I'm done now. ;)
Whathu?
There is nothing party-worthy about that.
I'm not green...at all. The only thing we do to be eco-friendly is allow our grass to grow super duper tall so we can proudly claim that we have made vast contributions to the Fresh Air Campaign.
Our President is very proud of me.
giggle...
A party, huh?
I think I will pass this time.
Happy Monday!
Oh, goodness. I had to re-read your post again to make sure I understood what you wrote!!!! That would be a "NO" on this end, too. Yuck.
NO NO NO NO!!! Never...
I am trying to make small changes and will continue to add more green things to my list, but this will not be one of them.
The party in my pants happened when I got the Hysterectomy.
I'm not green. Before the emails were leaked, indicating that global warming is a hoax, I never believed the hype. God created the earth, and only he can destroy it. To think otherwise is egotistical at best.
Nevah is right! Yikes!
We recycle some. I don't have reusable grocery bags, but I recycle my plastic ones....
LOL...I think that's carrying it a little too far.
I'm with you. NEVER!! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love getting comments from new friends. I have snooped around your blog and I have to say it is just beautiful! I'm always so impressed with fellow Christians who aren't afraid to declare their love of the Lord and what He has given us. Thanks for your example!
Ok, I will be the first to say I would consider it. I have always tried to be a little green, but moving to a third word country has made me much greener. One of my biggest culture shocks was garbage every where. Right now we live in the capital and have pretty good garbage service (it still ends up in a place it shouldn't be I am sure, but usually not in my road), but if we move to a smaller village I will seriously consider these. Who wants your feminine products laying aroung the roads and fields for animals to graze on?!
P.S. I love your blog. :)
That is green gone too far!!
We recycle at the house and that is about it. I also contribute by buying flea market finds. That is recycle, isn't it? Hee Hee.
Well, there are those of us who are allergic to the chemically laden disposible feminine products. Would you rather have a rash every month or use something like this? Of course, I will admit that the name of that particular line is unfortunate... But you can't fault her for creativity! :-)
Glad the party is over in my pants (if that's what they call it...); but if not, NO WAY would I be using these! I think they used these in the Little House on the Prairie days!
I heard of these a few yrs ago and reusable cups. Seriously, I think NOT. How ishy!
There should be some benefits to living in the 21st century. Shouldn't there? One of those benefits is that somethings should just stay disposable. I've started using my cloth table napkins every day and every meal instead of paper ones, but that's where I draw the line. Some napkins are best disposed of.
I'm in the minority too. I use a Diva cup and have for the past 5 years. I don't like pads, and the Diva cup holds more than a tampon so I don't worry about leaks during the day, and I don't have to worry about chemicals.
I get that some people find it gross, but I think both the various cups and reusable pads are on a par with conventional disposables and the need to clean underwear during a period. The cup is actually more convenient in some areas (such as my last trip to China) where there aren't disposal facilities, but you can use water and disinfectant/boil products.
I agree. He made it. We should take care of it.
