I love to lighten up for the summer. Fresh and airy rooms make me feel cooler when the weather is HOT and humid.

My family room used to be gold, red, and green. Over the past year we've painted and changed things up to a more soothing neutral scheme. This golden chair kinda stood out from the rest of the room; but I can't get rid of it. I rocked all of my babies in it; it's comfortable; and it's the only chair we have in the room right now.
Since the lines are pretty straight, I decided to try to make a slip cover for it. Since nice, durable fabric can be $$$, I decided to take a chance. I purchased a canvas painter's drop cloth for $9.97 from Home Depot. Washed it, and traced a pattern from the cushions.
Can I just tell you how much I love canvas drop cloths now??? I even had enough left over to make a curtain. (Tomorrow...)

Have you used something unusual lately? Please share... I'm always looking for fun, frugal ideas!

I am impressed! You are so stinkin' talented. :)
I wouldn't say I've used anything unusual this summer except a lot of PAINT and that is not so unusual. However, you have taught me to look at ordinary things and make them much more extraordinary. :) Check out my blog tomorrow for some of those moments.
I am totally impressed with that slipcover! Want to come to my house and help me with one? I'll fix you a yummy PBJ!!!
Hugs!

Love your summer decor...
totally love the chair cover. Sew on sister!
Happy summer, stay cool.
Boy did I blow it the other night. I could have taken my camera, room to room, in your house and no one would be the wiser. And here all I was concerned about was finding your oven mitts. :) I missed out on a lot of inspiration!
I wish I could hire you to remake our home. It's on MLS, so we can't spend much not knowing what our next home will be like. I think I'm gleaning some great ideas from your blog, though. Now if only I can glean some motivation.
A-mazing. Lurve the slip-cover idea. Let's just say MY babies are 12 and nearly 14, and our chair looks every bit of that. :)
