A Lil Sunshine

I've turned into my mother. I mean that with all due respect, mom.
This time of year I can't walk past a home improvement store without getting giddy. Heck, I can't even walk into the grocery store without perusing the blooms that line the sidewalk.
There's just something about seeing the flowers and imagining all of the foliage potential.

I love to garden ... seasonally. As in spring and fall. Once the summer heat kicks in, my interest dries up like a Nebraskan dust bowl.

So for now I'll pretend that I have a green thumb and that our spring weather will last for 5 months.

How about you? Do you love to garden? Flowers or veggies?
Or do you prefer to purchase your flowers wrapped in cellophane in the cooler next to the produce dept?

I don't garden.

Not because I don't WANT to garden. But because death isn't pretty. And my gardening equals death.

I've switched to back deck pots for flowers because of the ding dang deer, but I really love to have a vegetable garden.

Next house.

Love to garden. I always want the yard to have pretty flowers, like you that's not always possible, so I enjoy them while I can. Hope you enjoy. Hugs, Marty

I love the IDEA of gardening. I definitely dream of having a small veggie garden of tomatoes and cucumbers...and a small herb garden...and a small strawberry patch.
AS far as flowers, I'd love to plant some peonies and a rose garden.
Whenever we move, I've already drawn out a picture of exactly what my practical dream backyard would be. I say practical, b/c it needs to be attainable for me to feel motivated to do it!
Maybe next summer when I'm a one hundred percent stay at home mom I can start working on this. Ok, so I'll probably need some help with 3 kids under 3....let's be realistic here!
I can't wait to see pictures of what you do! Make sure to do a post of any good tricks you've learned about raising healthy gardens!!

I unfortunatly have a black thumb, so gardening isn't so easy. But I continue to catch the flower bug every spring. This year only geraniums and petunias for my pots by the door, and any weed that looks like a flower gets to stay. I can manage that!

it's funny you ask b/c just the other day, i was telling a friend . . .
i was outside w/ little man recently, spotted a few weeds as we were walking down the driveway, & pulled 'em. just 3-4, nothing major. but what WAS major was that those were the FIRST acts of gardening that i've done in 6 yrs. and there was no denying the rush of JOY that came over me. as for planting, you can have it. but it must be the organizer in me that loves me some WEEDING!! it's THERAPY, & it hit me that i need MORE of it!!

and that shade of green on my thumb is def a piece of my mom in me as well -- & like you, i like it.

and btw, if you don't dig the weeding, say the word & i'm sure we can work out a barter. i'll trade you some weeding for some planting! ;)

happy spring, friend,
TZ

Mrs. CPQ visited my garden this morning - loved the visit - waiting on pins and needles to hear if my garden passed muster

I am also a seasonal gardener with the pretty spring and fall flowers on my front porch and steps and on the back deck. I would love to have a veggie garden but the lack of a full day of sun and the deer prohibit that.

Hope
