In Unrelated News...

1. Is this a familiar sight at your house? Fall ball just started up this week. My lil man got moved to the next age level and looking at the various sizes on his team reminds me of God's sense of humor. It's hilarious to watch this age scramble for the bases, pick clovers and try to look tough all at the same time. I am so thankful for a sport that my big and lil man can enjoy together.

2. Last week I hosted a Girls Night Out... In. We indulged in these. S'mores brownies. Oh yeah, baby! It's like having a campfire without the stinky smell in your clothes afterwards. Would you like the recipe?

3. There is a reason queen size beds are made. This is how my girl sleeps every. single. night. Forty-three names, personalities and specific sleeping spaces. Girls are relational, right?

4. I'm still mulling over and savoring the events surrounding the wedding. With the bride's family being from the Michigan, I learned that there are some wedding customs that vary between the north and south. Did you know that in the north cash is more likely a wedding gift than a wrapped present? I think it is a great idea! It saves the new couple the headache of having to do returns, plus they can use it to purchase necessary items (like a vacuum!)
Apparently a bridesmaid luncheon is a southern thing. I didn't realize this until it was met with puzzlement from the bride and groom. Here in the south it is a nice luncheon given to the bride and her girls the day of/before the wedding. It is a time for the bride to honor her bridesmaids and for them to enjoy each other's company before the craziness of the day begins. How about your area? Is it just a southern thing?

5. We enjoyed PERFECT weather in the mountains over Labor Day weekend. 68 and sunny. My body obviously isn't used to perfection because I came home with a nasty head cold. Yes, I'm whining. No one is allowed to whine at our house except me.

6. Sunday will be our first time back to church in three weeks. I am so excited to be back with our church family and worship together. As an added bonus, it is the start of a new sunday school year for the kiddos and the big reveal of our make-over of the welcome/worship areas.

Hugs!!!

Yes....our house is like that. Well...our garage anyway. Soccer cleats, TKD sparring gear, and I don't even let my running clothes touch the other dirty laundry. Active/stinky family here. :)

Yes, I want that recipe! How did I miss that at your house?? Oh yes...I had eyes for the cupcakes. Yum!

We did, in IA, have a bridesmaid luncheon, but I had never seen the Dad being the best man (and being married to a musician I've been to every kind of wedding -even strangers- you can imagine.) Love to see personal touches that I've never seen!

I didn't have a bridesmaid luncheon...not sure if our town was really "big" enough for that sort of event. But, it's really southern.

And yes, please remind me of the recipe...

Yes, my house looks like that also. Football is in full swing. But, you forgot about the "little boy smells". Yes, it is amazing at just how people do things differently, from state to state, I'm saying!
Have a wonderful weeknd, hope you feel better soon.

Yes, I think we'd all like that recipe!

You're right about the north-south wedding customs being a little different. Actually, I think that $$ for a wedding gift is quite nice, although I do like the tradition of a couple's registering for gifts, as well. Maybe there should wrapped presents for shower gifts and $$ for wedding gifts! What do you think?

Hope your cold is better soon! Glad you're the only one allowed to whine at your house. The mama's got to have SOME privileges!

Enjoyed your little bit of this and that, especially the part about the wedding customs. I was raised in Massachusetts but moved to Nebraska 9 years ago. I do recall attending a bridal luncheon for my best friend's wedding in MA, but that was the only one, I think. And yes, cash is a popular gift for weddings up north -- my husband and I got quite a windfall...and it sure came in handy for furnishing our first house!

Nice to meet you here...I'm coming over from Richella's place...

I'm from eastern PA and my husband is from Ohio. When we got married last summer he wanted an open-church wedding (i.e. everyone in the church is invited), but I had never heard of that. His family also suggested a cake & punch reception, but where I'm from, you most definitely serve a meal. We compromised (everyone invited, everyone well fed), and it was great. We mostly got money as gifts, which was also great! At my showers I got all wrapped gifts (no money), so it all balanced out. And I've never heard of a bridesmaids luncheon! How fun!

They have bridesmaid luncheons in my neck of the woods. I personally didn't hav eone, but then my wedding was small.

My kiddos are into soccer. BUSY.

My daughter finally packed up the animals, another sign she is growing up. Of course they are still in tubs in her closet. Not quite ready to get rid of them altogther. :)

Happy weekend!

I heard about your delicious brownies! I hated that I missed out on them.
I saw your little guy yesterday. Has he grown over the summer or what! I bet he is adorable on the baseball field. I promise I won't tell him he looks adorable. That just would not be the right thing to say to a boy.
