Making Summer Last

As with every other state in the Union with the exception of Colorado, we've experienced blistering heat since the 4th of July.  Even though I prefer the other seasons I am reluctant to let go of summer.  I know.  I sound crazy, but it's really the change of the season of life that I'm not ready to do.  Summer holds a special place in my heart because it is a time of refreshment from the schedules that seem to overtake the other months.
I won't miss the heat but I will miss
~fireflies at dusk
~longer days
~fresh flowers
~seashells
~sun kissed faces
~splashing in the pool
~flip-flops
~the smell after a summer rain
~popsicles on demand
~fresh watermelon
I have about a month of summer left and I am sure come mid-September I will be ready for fall, but for now I am going to savor the season.

What do you savor the most about summer?

I would say that I savor that relaxed schedule. I also love the birds singing, crickets chirping, my cooler walks in the morning, and enjoying my family without the stress of everything piled on top.

Sweet post Gretchen! I know we are nearing the end & the last days of the hot weather and watering gets old, but there are great reminders of what summer is all about.

I love long evenings and having NO schedule. Trying to soak up every single moment of the time that remains...

I love having you & the kids over splashing with me in the pool! And as you know, I'm one of the few crazies that actually loves summer, so I'm sad to see it end. The sound of the cicadas is always the "death knell of summer" for me, but I love the changing seasons.
