Facebook Personalities

I joined the world of Facebook about six months ago after much pressure encouragement from friends. It has been a fun way to stay connected with friends, new and old.

I love to watch people, in the mall, at the airport etc... As I've "watched" people on Facebook, I've noticed that most of them fall into one of these categories:

Foodie
- each of my posts consist of how healthy -or- unhealthy I am eating

Woe is Me - I like the world to feel sorry for me. I'm having a bad day (yet again) and want everyone to know

Weird- I make no sense to anyone else, but I sure find myself funny

Exercising my Pride - Guess how much weight I've lost. Guess, guess! I've just completed 89 minutes on the elliptical machine for the second time today.

Comedian- I have a good sense of humor and keep life fun for all of my friends

Silent Film Star- I'm on Facebook often, yet you never hear me say a word. Basically I stalk all of my friends. I'm a little creepy.

Who Cares?- Wanna know what color my shoestrings are today?

Just for Kids - I have lost my own identity. Even my profile picture is of my kids.

It's all about the Numbers - I don't say much, and we really don't know each other, but will you be my friend so that it looks like I'm really popular?

Gamer- I play Facebook games all day and I am not ashamed. In fact, I'll gladly post the link.

Well Rounded - Sometimes I'm funny, sometimes I share news or tips, sometimes I am serious, sometimes I complain, sometimes I am silent. Facebook is not my life, just a great place to catch up with friends that I don't get to see that often.

Are you a Facebooker? If not, you're still cool with me. If so, which of these describes your FB personality? Have a new category you'd like to add to the list? I'd love to hear!

I am absolutly well rounded.;) My profile picture which I changed just last night from the 5 of us 11/2 years ago to just my kids(um because they're so darn cute)on Christmas day. I admit I like to share when I'm tired and I also like to be whitty. I sometimes play games and sometimes I just plain old creep. I often just put a :) or a ;) or a ;P just depends on how I feel. You didn't tell us what you were. Did you really wanta know all that? heee.

Your post had me chuckeling as I thought of different people on my facebook list who fit all of the categories. Thankfully I think I'm pretty Well-Rounded. FB can be pretty addicting sometimes though!

Great food for thought! I don't think I fit any of the catagories... but maybe some others would be: causes, fun stuff, join me in some fun, & advertising (I've decided to hide or un-friend these). I tend to be more of a responder... but it's better than being a lurker...

Pretty funny. Hadn't thought about it, but I think you nailed a lot of the personality categories. I used to spend more time on FB than I do now so I'm not sure where I'd fit lately. I'm not even sure when I last changed my status. I'm going to go see now; maybe then I'll know which category I'm in!

I am all over the place! I post about whatever suits my fancy at that moment. I post about my family, my experiences, future goals, politics, and my beliefs!

I love Facebook for all the old friendships I have been able to reunite with!

For whatever reason I have noticed a certain amount of people who seem to use Facebook as a way to pretend to be someone else. I have had 3 friends who's marriage broke up because of a old flame! That makes me very sad and scared all the same. Am I the only one who sees that?

Gosh, a lot of those sound pretty negative. Not sure which one I hope I fall in.

Not sure which one I am...pretty sure which ones I'm not!

oh those are classic! shall we all go & tag our friends accordingly now? haha, just kidding. ;) but yes, i'd like to propose another category called "This Little Light of Mine." almost a year ago, i decided that if i were going to get on FB, i was going to use it as an opp. to be a light for Him. a light of truth for my unsaved HS friends. and a light of encouragement (through truth) to my believer friends. sure, i have my usual "update" posts (although hopefully sparing you the color of my shoe laces! ha!). but as w/ any other medium/opp to connect w/ others in this life, my heart longs to always speak messages of His love through truth & grace. so may it be so!!
hugs of encouragement for your friday, friend,
TZ

Hilarious!! I think I'm well rounded. I use to be "Just for Kids" when I first had my daughter, but think I've changed my tune the past 6 months or so (mainly because I hate hearing all the status updates of "my kid is so awesome...let me just tell you how brilliant they are." That should be a catagory: "Let me tell you how brilliant and advanced my child is."
I've been spending less time on facebook b/c there is SO much more I can do with my day. I try to only use it to send someone a quick message or look at someones pics.
Love this post!

Truer words have never been spoken!

I love it!!

You are exactly right!!!! :)

I hope I'm well-rounded. Hope.

This is easy. We're all well-rounded, have perfect children and figures, eat only organic food, and, like Mary Poppins, are practically perfect in every way.

At least I am. I suppose i shouldn't speak for others. ;)

It depends on the day! I think I can be all of the above!

I joined a while back, just mainly to be able and go onto my daughter's and be able to 'check up' on what she has posted. I have to admit it still makes me a little nervous. And I keep forgeting to even go on there.

Carpool Queen said...

You forgot a category: Compulsive Status Updater. "I'm at the mall!" "I just ate oatmeal!"

Not that I would know anything about that.

The Buntens said...

Well, of course I'm well-rounded! ;)

Lately, I have been hugely absent from FB.

I am not sure which one I am. I have loved using FB to reconnect with old friends. I don't post my status much but I love leaving comments on friends status.
Also, you can add the political category. I have a few FB friends who post political views ALL the time.

Kellie said...

LOL.... I'm probably well rounded and I am becoming the silent lurker. Oh well... it isn't my life but it interesting to catch up with people. I must say, those that change their status every time they breathe kind of get on my nerves. LOL

Unknown said...

You hit those just right. I will agree with Carpool Queen though. I do have a number of FB friends who just say the darnedest things and update us on the most "who cares" kinds of activities.

I'd like to think, of course, that I am extremely balanced and well-rounded. But truthfully my category would probably be the Greenies - I tend to look at everyone else's postings and think they are all so much more interesting than my own life. I get so green with envy I intentionally get up and do something equally interesting so I can post it! Sick.

Very funny and so true! I hope I'm the well rounded one. And I know which one I dislike the most....gamer. I don't play the games and hate having to scroll past people's game details and results. Who cares about what kind of animals you've acquired in farmville?!

Cathy said...

SO TRUE!!

Hm...which am I? Excuse me while update my status and poll ALL my friends to get their opinion on which I am...

Well Rounded won out. Yup definitely well rounded. Ahem.

I'm feeling all self-conscious at the moment, tempted to go read all the status updates I've put up in the last 6 months. Never have I wanted to be as well-rounded as I do right now!

I love this! And how do I find you on facebook?

Laura said...

My mom would love this. She got on facebook and then wondered why [shall remain nameless] needed to tell her every time she peed.

Made me laugh! Everyone can do the "my year in status" application and probably figure out which one they are ;)
